      They have many listings for apartments that specifically state “no section 8”. This is ILLEGAL and DISCRIMINATORY! It’s illegal for a broker or a landlord to reject rental applicants for using government housing vouchers in the state of NY. There is currently a major lawsuit happening right now in the state against this very practice. Shame on you!

      By far the least scrupulous landlord I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Merrick promised the world to get me to sign and once i moved in, I couldn't get him to return my calls. Curious as I first met him WHILE he was doing work to an apartment. This was an anomolous occurrence as I saw the reality of things once I moved in. The building is not kept after and contains a multitude of hazards. Broken front door to the building, smoking in the stairwell, extremely noisy neighbors. My understanding from the local RE scene is that he is neither well regarded nor trusted. Word to the wise, look elsewhere for housing. If you MUST consider him, do not roll with his antics. He will demand a bank check for deposit and a modified contract that waives all tenant rights. Negotiate. Platzners are desperate for unwise tenants and you lose all leverage once you sign.
