  Since getting credit has gotten more difficult and cumbersome over the last few years (even for credit score rockstars), I can't recommend highly enough the use of a reputable mortgage broker to run interference with the big bad banks. Enter David Garrett. I met David through a work project a few months back, and he was kind enough to update me on rates, etc. during the months we were considering a refinance on our home. When we were ready to push the button in early August, he was ready with a comprehensive checklist of items he needed to see the process through. And of course, we had a few "special circumstances" that would make the process just a little more challenging. OCD as I am, I had just about every document he needed (from tax returns to W2's to paycheck stubs) at easy access on the computer. After providing the items in question, he needed precious little else from us, and he or Jana (his coordinator) were in touch almost daily to update us on the status. When loan docs were ready at the end of August, a notary brought them to our home after work for signature. We started the process in early August and the refi closed in early September in about a painless a process as we've ever had. David was proactive, communicative, and professional every step of the way, and the rate was extremely competitive. Whether you're buying a new home or refinancing the one you're in, I recommend David Garrett without hesitation.
