  When looking for a bank, the number 1 thing I look for the most is it's sense of community - the fact that I can trust someone or a group of people is huge. & that is exactly what I feel every time I go to self-help federal credit union. Especially during this busy season, fraudulent charges can occur out of nowhere. This team, both physically & their customer service on the phone are wonderful & helpful. Skip your regular bank & switch to this amazing credit union. They'll take care of you like family.

  FIrst let me share a little about myself. I have 2 accounts with this bank and have been a member since 2015. I have seen managers, tellers, and other employees come and go here regularly. During my soon to be 7 years here at SHFCU i have experienced the same issue over and over regarding my debit card. Its randomly locked and deemed restricted. I do not get any phone calls, texts, or emails asking if its me making the transaction(s) that led to my card being restricted. Instead its just boom your card is restricted (and always tends to happen after hours on a Friday or a Saturday when the bank is closed for the weekend). This means my card is locked until Monday when i get off work (if i leave early) as they only have automated service which does not help in the even of card being restricted. I have repeatedly asked the bank to contact me if they are going to block / restrict my card as often times it is I who made the purchases. Time and again i am told by tellers and customer service alike that someone called me etc and yet I never see a call or have any missed calls. the last time this happened was the last two weeks. It happened on Saturday and again on Sunday. I am beyond frustrated as this stops all transactions and I have no way to unlock this til the weekend is over. Today i intended to speak about this again with the manager, but the bank is Closed (Monday Dec, 27th) so as you can see i still have no resolution to this issue. I dont understand why its so hard for the bank to implement a text or email or phone alert via app like all other branches considering they are closed more often than the average bank. once the late fees, and insufficient funds rejections etc occurs i am left to deal with any and all penalties. THIS is what is leading me to taking my money and going elsewhere. Enough is Enough.
