  South State Bank sucks everywhere you go but the York branch is especially bad. All they know to do is apply rules that have been sent down from their corporate types. See South State is trying to be a regional player but they're controlled by the suits that sit in Columbia and Charleston. They're not trying to build a business by building relationships but by rule as I said. The result is not satisfying to the customer, I assure you. I was refused a credit card from York branch even after letting them kn ow I was a high net worth individual who had a run of bad luck within the last few years. 40 years of perfect credit prior to that did not make a difference. It wasn't the way the rules were set up. I also had a bad experience at South State Heckle blvd trying to take a brand new car loan (financed with GM) and giving them a shot at the busi ness. We did not discuss anything but the loan officer began noodling in my affairs to determine my income, expenses, etc. She rejected me for the loan. I told her she was an Affirmative Action hire and a trained monkey could do her job as she did it. I think the trained monkey comment did it but the bank decided to cancel my accounts, I was kicked out. That's really not so bad for me because it pushed me to go to BB&T which is a lot nicer organization. Bottom line South State Bank sucks. The end.

  Best bank, hands down! Thought I would never find a partnership better than my credit union. The ladies here go above and beyond in every way possible!
