  I am an Army veteran living in North Carolina who will be moving to Wisconsin. I plan to build a retirement home in Oconto County (Abrams). After speaking with prospective builders, I was given Stephenson bank as the most likely source for a mortgage ( I always like dealing locally - since I will soon be a member of the local community). I spoke with Bob Schwartz and he directed me to the web site - he told me NOT to do a construction loan for my home which will be built - but to use a refi loan. I started the on line application - but was called away - since I was doing this from work. When I returned - that application had timed out - BUT I noticed an email from my Credit monitoring service - which indicated activity. Upon investigation I discovered that someone ( Stephenson Bank) had pulled my credit - but how could that be - I did not provide a full social and I did NOT check any blocks authorizing this "hard pull". At that point I had spoken to 4-5 banks over the course of 3 -4 weeks and was NOT ready to begin the hard pulls since I hadn't made my decision. I called Bob Schwartz and conveyed my concern - I had also spoke to the credit monitoring service and the credit monitoring agency. I was told the Bank could withdraw the hard pull and I could continue searching for my construction loan. Bob Schwartz informed me he could NOT pull back the request. I then asked to speak to a bank manager and was directed to Ms. Debbie Franklin. After explaining my situation - she informed me that Stephenson Bank would NOT pull back the credit request. Needless to say - I was flabbergasted ! I was prepared to loan $550,000 for my home loan and probably $500,000 to $1,500,000 for my farm to begin hemp production. I would never consider doing business with a bank that does not have the customer's interest at heart. I would be interested to see what the Vision Statement for Stephenson bank is - they likely are NOT customer focused. Sorry Stephenson - I'll be banking with your competitors.
