      Refused to cash a government check on grounds that I do not have an account with an amount equal to the check. I have only ever had an HSA, and have never been questioned about cashing a check. Another reason I will not open any other account with them.

      The Spencer branch of Tioga State Bank is the most unprofessional bank I’ve ever dealt with in over 30 years and in three different countries I’ve lived in. Every single time I deposited a cheque electronically they messed it up and cited bogus “policies.” They refused to remember my name even in the same conversation, physically took my phone out of my hands to try to sign into the app on it themselves, never responded to emails until I had to call their supervisors, and their technology is archaic. I couldn’t even electronically sign documents like I do with every other bank I’ve used in the last decade. They would mail them which would take almost a week, when it should’ve been done the same day. Every employee I interacted with there was rude, uninformed, and unapologetic about their shortcomings. Save yourself the hassle and switch to any other bank or credit union in the area.
