  We opened a Heloc account which all went smooth. As we were closing discovered their system lacks the ability to make payments from other Fin. Inst was instructed to open a savings account which we could transfer funds to pay the heloc. Asked repeatedly about any extra fee's and was assured none. Low and behold when the statements arrived- we were being assessed a fee. When I called was basically called a liar. I want trust in a bank - regardless if it was stated or not - it clearly was not understood.

  This is by far the worst bank with which I have ever dealt! Even in the midst of a global pandemic of a highly contagious, deadly virus, BB&T requires in-person contact for virtually every transaction. Because we needed to do several large transactions during this pandemic, we asked if we could send wires electronically. We were flatly told "No." We threatened to close our account and the woman on the phone said, "OK." Absolutely rude; the worst customer service I have ever experienced (and I am also a former customer of Capital One. I didn't think any bank could beat Capital One in terms of rudeness and inconvenience--I was wrong!). We discovered that one of our other banks could do electronic wires. We have decided to close our BB&T accounts and transfer the funds to that bank--of course, we have to come into the branch or send a notarized letter. Banking with BB&T feels like being transported back to the time of the horse and buggy. Any bank that doesn't realize it is the 21st century is clearly not forward thinking. Avoid the stress and rudeness--bank elsewhere!
