  I had a very unpleasant and stressful experience with Union Saving Bank. I decided to work with them although my local real estate circles warned me against using them since union savings is known to back out at last minute leaving you scrambling to find other options. This happened to me ~10 days before closing on my primary residence. I have to now find accommodation within 10 days since I already sold my home to move into the new one which now Union Savings declined to finance. Initially I was told to put 10% down, then they increased it to 20% and then they declined the loan and I was given no reason as to why the loan was declined.

  Working with Union Savings Bank has been a terrible and stressful experience. The nonchalantly missed not just the first, but the second closing dates. We had a contract with a 45-day closing and we are closing 54-days out. Their statement to this was, "Well, if the contracts were written better this wouldn't happen"; however, they made no mention about the contract date being a challenge until days before the first planned close date. Had we known it may have been problematic, we would have been more than accepting of extending the date at the time rather than having to rearrange everything time and time again. Despite our having to move date around with movers and contractors and making flexibility asks of our employers, the only response we received from USB was "we are extremely busy with closings and refis". Worst customer service we have received in regarding to purchasing a new home. If they are recommended by your realtor, I highly encourage you to look elsewhere.
