Iāve had an account with Glacier Banks for 20 years, and now that I live in Helena, Valley Bank is my local branch. Since being married I do most of my banking with USAA but use this account when I need to bank locally. I recently transferred a larger sum of money to this account so I could withdraw it for a big cash purchase. When I went to withdraw the money at the Euclid branch, a nice gal assisted me but needed the other teller, Tara, to sign off on the large withdrawal. Tara announced very loudly āAmber, this is going to take you awful close to a zero balance.ā Then, after staring at me for an awkward amount of time said āOk, I guess I can allow itā. The whole situation was awkward and insulting. While I respect that tellers must be on the lookout for fraud, I expect to be able to withdraw my own money without personal judgement from the bank employees and having details about my remaining balance broadcast to the entire bank and grocery store. I certainly shouldnāt need her permission beyond standard security to access my own money. Frankly, as long as I donāt have debts to the bank it is absolutely none of her business what the remaining balance is on my account. It was such a bad and unprofessional experience that Iāll be closing this account and going to First Interstate or Opportunity after the holiday.
