Full disclosure: I work here! As such, I heartily recommend Veterans United as a great place to work, as well as get a VA Mortgage! Having worked at many places in my career I can honestly say this is the best job I've ever had, plan to stay here until I retire.

Veterans United will distract you with amenities, and then bait-and-switch you on the finances. Just before moving into closing our interest rate jumped a half point (despite me having an excellent financial history and a credit score of 808). When I asked how we could get the rate back to where it was, they said I could do it for a one-time buy down fee of $1,900. Also, earlier in the mortgage process, I asked about the pros and cons of going with a 10% down loan rather than a 20% down loan. I was not told about PMI, and only became aware of the PMI charge when reading through the details of the loan documents. Granted, I should have known about PMI on a less than 20% down payment; nevertheless, Veterans United is getting a lot of money from me over the life of this loan and I was trusting them to shepherd me through this process with more transparency. Meanwhile, they'll send you a welcome package in the mail and you'll be introduced to a spate of incredibly nice and helpful concierges, insurance coordinators, etc. Those folks are kind and competent and the service they provide is meaningful, but, at the end of the day, I'm more interested in a mortgage lender offering me financial transparency than offering me feel-good amenities.

NEVER.. I will NEVER deal with this company again. I tried using them as a lender for purchasing a home and because I am a truck driver, have been for 8 years, I get paid by the mile. They refused to work with me at all. I will tell anyone that I know to stay far away from this company.
