      Have had excellent experience with Amalgamated Bank for decades. A labor bank for working people, fees are low, don't pay for ATM withdrawals, my atm card if lost, is replaced immediately. If fraud is detected and reported, handled quickly with their professional staff of employees. I recommend them to everyone.

      Very poor telephone customer service. The bank had me waiting on the phone for an hour, and no one picked up or returned my call.

      Weirdly poor experience. I liked the supposed values of the bank, so tried to open an account online. When doing do, they don't provide an account number, which is needed to set up the online account. Then it takes about a week to confirm an external bank in order to transfer funds in. All of which is fine, except if an initial deposit is not made within 30 days, the account gets automatically closed, and about 20 of those 30 days disappear waiting for the account number to arrive and external bank to be confirmed. In short, very odd to sell itself as having strong online banking capabilities, and then make it very difficult to actually even set up an account with them without going into a branch. If you're looking for online banking with an ethical company, look elsewhere, Amalgamated doesn't yet have the "online" part figured out.
