  I applied for a home loan back in March 2022. Was granted pre-qualification in April. On April 27th three days before we were set to close. Caliber's outsourced underwriter started making demands for things to be taken care of. I provided documentation of child support, even refinanced my auto loan with my child's father to show he was not only paying he assumed responsibility for the loan, we also provided a lease showing he would be paying me 800 a month rent while living there. The seller of the property we put a down payment on, agreed to pay 6 thousand to help settle anything else they were concerned about. The next deadline came around and again the underwriter was asking for proof I did not purchase another vehicle, even though the refinance was there asking (all the letters provided had the same Vin number). This person refused to answer calls or get back to us in a timely manner. As a result I lost my 5 thousand dollar down-payment as well as the nearly 2 thousand I paid for the appraisal and survey documents (which prior to being asked to pay these I was told I was approved) and a home. When we were told we qualified and everything was set to close we gave our apartment complex notice so we need to vacate end of month May 2022. So my self, and my 9 year old autistic child as well as his loving father are now out of 7 thousand dollars and a home to live in. I have never in my life been treated so badly, I felt like criminals get more respect than I do. So whatever you do never ever use this mortgage company they will take any money they can from you and then right before you are due to sign and get your keys they will deny you or run down the clock so you lose everything. I have opened a complaint with HUD and the FHA, as well as filing a lengthy complaint to the BBB. I'm praying a friend can house us until we find a home to rent as I will never attempt to buy property again. I have a 720 credit score, excellent payment history and an amazing job with great pay, etc. There is no reason I should have been treated like this and to confirm for readers, I was not denied lending I was delayed for over 45 days with a back and forth for documentation that does not exist until we lost the house due to the seller backing out and not wanting to extend. Never ever use this company they treat their customers worse than criminals.
