  At 4:12 PM, the ATM ate my bank card and a check. It froze stone cold dead. The Exit button on the screen didn't work. The Cancel button on the physical console didn't work. The phone hard-line next to the ATM didn't have so much as a dial-tone. When I called the main bank number on my cell phone, after being on hold for over 12 minutes the guy told me "you can just try pulling your card out". Like I hadn't tried that before. It locks the cards in. He put me back on hold. Long story short, I was there on the phone for almost 1.5 hours and was eventually told that there was nothing to be done. My card remained in the machine. My check remained in the machine. I'm done with this bank. Their products aren't great, their service to date has been mediocre, their locations aren't wide-spread enough, and this debacle is the last straw. If it were 3 AM on a weekend I could see that maybe I'd have to suck it up once their four layers of redundant backup all failed (seriously, how incompetent is that?!), but it was 4:12 on a weekday and they still took well over an hour to tell me they couldn't do anything. I have no idea if I'm getting that money back, but they're certainly losing my business when I clean out my accounts.
