  We have purchased homes and refinanced homes many times over the last 15 years. Working with Gateway and Darren Crampton was by far the best experience. He did the work, answered our questions, and when it came time for the closing we did it right in our home! He even found some savings so we came out better than our original estimate! Who does that?! Darren does that!

  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get a mortgage with this company. If I could give 0 stars I would. My mortgage increased nearly $600 due to escrow changes, but no one ever emphasized on closing day that that was a possibility to watch out for. I was a first time home buyer so it was a lot of info being thrown around and I wish they would’ve talked more about the chance of this increase happening.... So they sent me just a letter (no email) stating my mortgage was going to increase but I never received it. So due to me not knowing about the increase, I was late on a mortgage payment without knowing it and caught it one day too late. They already reported it to the credit bureaus. My credit dropped 120 POINTS (780 down to 660). In my 8 year credit history and the 2 years I’ve been with Gateway, I’ve NEVER been late on any payment. Gateway said they would NOT correct the report to the credit bureau because it was the post office’s fault that I didn't receive the letter and not theirs. They should’ve emailed me. They couldn’t even make a decision to correct the report based on my spotless history with them...I was looking to buy rental property and refinance my house but I can’t now because of this hit on my credit. I’m in the process of suing... On top of all this, after I was late on my payment, they cancelled my autopay and had me set it up again. Late October 2019, I set up autopay and the lady on the phone said to make a manual payment for November and set up auto pay to start in December. That’s what I did. I made a manual payment for November, BUT they messed up on their end and set autopay to start in November and not December. They charged me over $1300 TWICE and my bank goes to insufficient funds and I get fees from my bank...and I have other bills to pay as well. I call Gateway to let them know of their mistake. It shows on my end when I log in on their site that i was charged twice and they confirm they can see it on their end as well...but they STILL won’t give me back my money. They make me go to the bank and get documents showing the transactions with my account number, name and bank’s logo. They say it’s going to take 48 “business hours” (8 business hours in a day, so about a week) for me to get my money back and they said it’s not guaranteed that they will cover the fees from my bank for my account going negative. This company is unprofessional and doesn’t give a damn about their customers. This company is nationwide so they will forget about you and treat you as another file on their system. This is the first time I’ve ever written a bad review. It takes a lot for me to be angry. Me taking the time out of my day to write this says a lot....but I want people to be aware of bad business practice being done by this company. Please save yourself the trouble and get a mortgage with someone you know and trust.
