I have been lucky enough to work with him on all my real estate transactions for the past 5 years, and trust his office to take care of everything, even if I don't remember to ask.   Brian Elam and his office in Greensboro served as the closing attorney for a property I purchased a year ago. Now, I’m selling said property and am not able to because They failed to complete necessary paperwork to remove a lien from the previous homeowner. The response from them in this matter has been horrific. They claim that they have called the previous owners and lien holder and that “the lien holder is elderly so an email will not work”. I am filing a grievance with the NC Bar and spreading the word to all that will hear, that this attorney does not complete their responsibilities and duties they were hired and paid to do. I am scheduled to close on my house tomorrow, and most likely won’t be able to because innovative closing solutions failed to do their job and the paperwork “fell through the cracks” quote from their office. They emailed me the phone numbers of the previous owner and lien holder so that I could call them and get the signature myself. Could you believe that?!? They want me to handle this gross negligence myself as it is my urgency that this be resolved so that I could sell my house.
