  Susan and Kim have taken great care of us with our personal and LLC taxes. We are self employed and need lots of attention to detail and LaFollett and Co have gone above and beyond. They are extremely smart and up to date on the tax laws and how those apply to our business. We are very thankful that they are in our community.-Debra Pettit

  *** UPDATE: Since our review they have recruited friends and employees to leave favorable reviews. The reply by the business is not factual, but I'm not going to further discuss the details of our personal financial business online...and the business isn't authorized to either *** I would like to give feedback regarding a local CPA, LaFollett & Co in Tom Bean. We made multiple attempts to resolve this matter cordially, professionally, and privately, but it was not handled to our satisfaction (we asked for a refund of our preparation fee). We usually don't handle things this way, but in these days of "cancel culture" and some people thinking they can tell the rest of us how to live ....we thought we should share the facts and let the public decide if this is someone they want handling their money and taxes. According to comments made by Susan LaFollett we believe her political and/or policy views influenced her firm's preparation of our tax return and cost us thousands of dollars. During a phone discussion Susan told me, "I don't think people who are employed should receive stimulus checks. I'm so worried about all this federal spending and that my grandchildren are going to have to pay it off." and other personal views that should have no place in a conversation about our tax return. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But we don't pay for hers. Another part of the issue was her office not staying on top of rapidly changing Covid & stimulus issues. I'm sure that's challenging, but part of their job. Their knowledge and "tax strategy thinking" was so lacking ....they could have learned a lot by just turning on the nightly news, but I expect tax professionals to be much more on top of things. When we addressed this problem they provided completely non-factual excuses.

  I'm very sorry that you are dissatisfied with our service. However, we performed the services that you requested correctly and in a timely manner. When we prepare to file taxes we try get them done as soon as possible and could not hold up all returns for legislation that may or may not pass in the future. I can assure you that my political views did not come into play during the preparation of you tax return.
