  We were supposed to close on May 20th 2016 and the mortgage banker had assured me every step of the way that we would close on time. Regardless of what the reasons and excuses were, we had completed everything on our side in a timely and orderly fashion. It was however, the mortgage banker's responsibility to make sure everything on his end would go through, as well as plan for contingencies as this is part of his job responsibility. In addition to the failure to close on time, I was also assured several times by the mortgage banker's supervisor that we would close on May 20th which then changed to May 25th. Subsequently we were not able to get possession of the house due to the title company that Nations Lending chose, which could not get everything completed on time. And to add more insult to injury, closing was scheduled at 1pm and the mortgage banker did not inform me that the title company on our side was rescheduling at 3pm, which then delayed taking possession of the home to the 26th and made us look like fools at the closing table when the seller's side had showed up with their title company. This has caused a moderate amount of hardship due to having to reschedule moving plans, days off for my wife that can not be taken back, causing financial problems and stress. During the lending process, the mortgage banker's boss admitted that our mortgage banker dropped the ball on us. The mortgage banker expected everyone at the title company to put all of their employee's personal information including their social security number. The title company gave resistance to this, as they did not want to disclose such information, which was part of the reason why the closing date was postponed. When confronted about this, Nations Lending labeled this as "unforeseen circumstances", however using basic elementary logic, one can foresee how there would be pushback from a title company, thus it was Nations Lending's obligation to place contingencies for such events. For Nations Lending to continuously say that they pride themselves on excellent customer service, they should provide contingencies for such obvious and logical reactions. Furthermore, I find it interesting that Nations Lending replies to our complaint saying that they will not honor our request because it was submitted by my husband instead of me due to privacy issue. The mortgage banker actually sent us closing documents of a different customer with their personal information on it, which is a clear violation of privacy laws. Nations Lending supposedly prides itself on excellent customer service, and I feel that I have not received excellent customer service. At best, the customer service was subpar.
