  1. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. I opened my account using Jazmins help, super helpful and resourceful. 2. I got my home loan via SCU, Chelsie Newbold and her team are just fantastic to work with, responsive, friendly and will work with you to ensure you meet the closing date on time. Every lender in town was surprised that SCU has such competitive rates, they were hands down the lowest in the market and extremely transparent. You can see the rates online and apply easily! Strongly recommend SCU for banking and for loans!

  Let me take you on a journey called "How to waste $130": I opened up a bank account locally because this seemed practical after a move. Looking back, it was so unnecessary. I have two credit union bank accounts that work for me in California. With mobile deposit, why add a third? What could happen? They flagged my third paycheck because it was suspicious a similar amount from the same institution (listed as my employer on my bank application) was deposited around the same time last month. Quite suspicious indeed, unless you know what a paycheck is. So the check I deposited on Oct 2nd was held until I called from work the evening of Oct 4th. Rent was late and they were fining me for every bill I scheduled for the week. $29 for my car payment, electric bill, etc. They said they would release the funds the next day but not reverse the fees. They checked with the Kirkland manager, he said I was informed of their general negligence and over-fining upon signing my contract. I am a single mom who drove out to the branch on my lunch hour. The branch manager denied my reversal of fines via chat. He never spoke to me. Never looked me in the eyes. He rather ordered a clerk to deny me. So I closed my account. They gave me a check for the remaining balance without checking my id or any account details which really felt secure. I just handed them my debit card and they closed the account, cut me a check and let me walk out with zero verification. Congratulations, you are the worst credit union I have ever encountered.
