I have banked with BB& T for many years including the Hopewell, Tri-Cities and many Richmond VA locations. This bank specially the Hopewell location has the worse customer service and our belittling. It got to the point that I didn't trust the employees at the bank and dreaded having to come in person. I was made to feel so small by most of the staff and mangers. I was finally fed up and decided to close my account.I did but not before I was advise and intimated by a representative of BB&T that I would never be able to open account at any bank because of my credit. That it would be in my best interest not to close my checking. I closed my account with BB&T right away and open a checking account with another big bank many months later. I had no problems opening any new accounts at any other banks like cds, checking, savings, etc over the years. Nothing negative on my credit report then or years later and my credit was and is above average. I still have had no problems with my current bank. I am very pleased and happy at my new bank unlike BB&T.
